A rather cheery and bright Miqo'te! X'jhamei is impulsive and excitable, all high energy and no breaks. They like to talk and make merry, it almost seems as though life is all sunshine and rainbows to them. Though, if you keep pushing, there's a stubborn and temperamental Miqo underneath it all... who may be struggling with some things.

They try not to bend to those feelings , though. They'd rather live life fast and dangerous! Turned up to 100 at all times! All smiles, no cloudy days! Just don't step on their toes. Or do! I can't stop you.

Build Tall ( for a Miqo'te ), and not the biggest boned person around-- but that isn't to say they're lanky. They're quite filled out, after years of training hard, and they're not scared to show that underneath the frills lies strength. They'd be very happy if you touched their arms and were impressed! Perhaps what you'd call a bit beefy.
Height 5'10"

Likes Chocobos, Big hearty meals, Pretty clothes, Dancing and singing, Starting just a bit of trouble

BACKSTORY

X'jhamei was, rather unfortunately for them, born from an affair between a Ishgardian nobleman and a Miqo'te servant working in his manor.

Not extremely high up in Ishgardian noble line, X'jhamei's father didn't want to lose what little standing his house had, much less to something like a bastard child born from an affair. He felt he couldn't trust their mother to keep the story quiet should he kick her out-- he didn't want any unsavory rumors spread, after all-- so he resigned to keeping her on staff. Never able to have children of his own with his wife, he took X'jhamei to raise as his own under the guise of adoption.

He boasted about his own kindness, that he took in the child of a dying woman, to raise them as nobility. It certainly raised eyebrows, and controversy, but it also garnered him a certain amount of notoriety that he enjoyed. Whether good or bad, people were talking about him. And there was certainly good said-- invitations to form closer relationships with other houses, opportunity he'd never have had previously, as just another moderate nobility. All because he was showing himself as a kind man unlike any of the others, having saved a child from death in the streets.

It wasn't quite like that, in reality. X'jhamei was certainly treated like a child of nobility... though with no love or affection. Their only friend was a knight in training their own age, and though they were best of friends, that doesn't negate the want for family. Their father expected great things from them, constantly hiring tutors and coaches, anything to bring X'jhamei to the top of their class. His love hinged on their talents. The thing about them is they aren't cut out for that, at all.

X'jhamei didn't shine in schooling, they were never a quick learner... and easily frustrated as well. They often got knocked around by older students and coaches during any combat training, and they had no talent with a sword. All in all, a failure.

That isn't to say they weren't trying! X'jhamei tried very hard for many years to be a model child, and to do exactly they were told. It just wasn't their first nature to be perfect at these things, which their father wrote off as being ungrateful for what they were given. He viewed himself as having saved them, and that they owed him perfection.

Sick of always trying to please their father to no gain, and rejected by his wife because they weren't her "true blooded" child, they began rebelling through most of their teenage years. That streak has remained within them-- a want to be themself and never stuck under anyone's thumb again.

Things came to a head when X'jhamei was 19, a fight causing their father to admit the truth-- that X'jhamei was his child... by way of an affair. An affair between a Miqo and a Elezen, at that. Being told that, and being told they were lesser for all of it, was the straw that broke the camels back. They were kicked out, and ended up gathering their things and sneaking out of Ishgard with the next traveling group of Astrologians.

Since then, they've been adventuring, doing odd jobs to get by and staying in inns, enjoying life as much as possible.

Sometimes, also, they're a Warrior of Light.

RELATIONSHIPS

Alisiae Leveilleur
Like a little sister they never knew they wanted, Mei is greatly fond of the young scion. Mei sees quite a bit of their teenage self in her-- in her desire to be good enough, in her hotheaded passion and in her want to do whats right, so they're a bit protective of her. They get along like 2 peas in a pod, whatever Mei does Alisiae usually copying. An ideal sibling duo if there ever was one.

Thancred Waters
Like Alisiae, they feel very much like Thancred is family-- though in a much less gentle way. They bicker like siblings at their finest, hardly seeming to get along at all. Upon first meeting Mei couldn't stand him, and took to actively causing trouble for him. Through their adventures together they've become extremely close, regardless of their bickering. Hes like a brother, and somewhat of a protector, to them in the most genuine way.

Aymeric de Borel
A kind and soothing presence in their life. They think very high of him, for someone of nobility. Perhaps its knowing his relationship with his father is rocky at best, but Mei feels like they understand each other very well. They go out of their way to seek him out often, to have a drink and discuss their recent adventures, just enjoying Aymeric's warmth.

Ysayle Dangoulain
Someone who inspired great hope in them. Her kindness spoke to them like nothing else had, even when everything was going wrong. They spent a many nights up late at the camp fire telling stories, and Ysayle was often someone willing to get into trouble with them. An irreplaceable friend who has made them better by being in their life.

Coming from very similar places ( the unlucky, untalented children of nobles ), they click as friends almost immediately. They're both pretty unwilling to talk about their problems, but just being there is enough. They tend to cause a ruckus together, having senses of humor that are crazily similar, but there's a comfort in that. They try and keep him from doing anything too stupid, for Honoroits sake.

Hilda Ware
The first person Mei had ever met who was also mixed. Shes so cool, strong and passionate and loud-- Mei is in awe of her more often than not. Her example of pride in herself and where she came from cave Mei quite a vote of confidence they didn't know they needed. They like to watch her target practice.

Ryne
Another one like Alisiae, but... different. Growing up, they felt quite a bit like a bird stuck in a cage. Watching Ryne's struggles, and her earnest attempts to truly come into herself... Mei cares for her very much. They're as protective of her as they are of Alisiae, often butting heads with Thancred over some of his stupider choices. When things get rough, they often go on walks together.

The Chais
Not close with their own parents, Mei is quite attached to the Chais. Despite their age, and status as Warrior of Light, Dulia has quite a tendency to dote on them. Chai-nuzz is less the doting type, but they rely on him like a father. They may never admit it, but they've called Dulia 'Mom' more than once. Their visits are frequent, and they almost always go back home with a gift or three.
